Saturn-Jupiter 2020 Great Conjunction over Denver

On the winter solstice, I went out to capture the Saturn-Jupiter 2020 Great Conjunction over Denver,  over St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Quite a few people out wandering around the Denver Sculpture Park near the Performing Arts Center, staring into the sky to witness something that happens occasionally, but usually with less media fanfare.

As we leave 2020 I thought we needed a bit of wonder for the new year, thus the ‘Christmas Star’ treatment. [Instead of creating the star out of nothing in Photoshop, I used both Saturn and Jupiter’s image data to ‘create’ the star effect, similar to that created by old-school filters we used back in the film days.]

Here’s to a 2021, hopefully quite unlike the 2020 we all just endured!
